Edit: Yoga Inc has reached out to us to clarify that each students get to enjoy 2 big towel and 1 small towel (which is usually more than enough). Any additional towel will cost $1. Whoever took more than that better own up now! Haha.
Yoga Inc is a studio with a very unique and distinct personality. To be honest, I don’t think anyone really understands their obsession with their reptilian mascot, AhFrog. On the other hand, photos of their dog, AhBui, is something that I look forward to seeing on their Instagram. Honestly, how often do you see such a cute and fluffy bulldog?
Located at the old Singapore Badminton Hall by Guillemard Road, Yoga Inc is easily accessible via Nicole Highway or ECP/PIE if you are driving. On the other hand, if you are poor like me, you can always choose to take a short walk from either Mountbatten or Aljunied MRT. Recently, they have expanded to two other locations at Tiong Bahru (Read our review about their Tiong Bahru Studio) and Punggol. But since I’ve never been there, I will only ramble about their flagship studio here.
Class Price @ Yoga Inc
I will begin with what people care about the most: pricing. At $35, the single drop-in rate is rather pricey for my standards. A 10 class membership for $300 ($30 per class) isn’t that cheap either. But if you value attentive teachers and great facilities, then Yoga Inc might just be the place for you.
Facilities @ Yoga Inc
Yoga Inc makes going for practice really convenient. Towels are provided by them
so you can take as many as you need (or want?). and each student gets to enjoy 2 big towel and 1 small towel.
They even provide clear plastic bags which you can put your sweaty clothes in! On top of that, you can also find cotton swabs and hairdryers in their changing room. You literally just need to bring yourself.
Ironically, one of the things I like best about them is the lack of air conditioning in the practice studio. After getting stiff muscles from practicing in studios that are way too cold, I started to believe that yoga is best done in room temperature. Even on a hot and windless day, Yoga Inc’s spacious studio with wide windows and high ceiling fans will ensure that the place remains cool and airy.
Classes and Teachers @ Yoga Inc
Yoga Inc offers a wide range of classes from the usual Hatha, Hot Hatha, Flow, Core to the more esoteric such as yin and prenatal. Having attended a variety of their classes, I have to say that all of them are very well paced and sequenced.
Jing is a wonderful teacher who gives clear and precise instructions. Throughout the class, she will walk around to gently align the postures of her students. For students who have difficulties getting into a certain pose, alternatives (easier variations to the pose) are often explained and demonstrated. Other teachers, such as Catherine and Jaqueline are also attentive, supportive and willing to stay back after class to provide further instructions and advice.
Yoga Inc’s clean and spacious premise with its comfortable chill out area gives off a warm and friendly vibe. True to this image, there is indeed a personal touch to their service. All of their staff seem to be pleasant and friendly. Perhaps, most importantly for people who are thinking of trying out the place, the staff do not hard sell.
